Monitoring Wet Snow Over an Alpine Region Using Sentinel-1 Observations

چکیده
The main objective of this study was to monitor wet snow conditions from Sentinel-1 over a season, examine its variation time by cross-checking with independent and weather estimates, distribution taking into account terrain characteristics such as elevation, orientation, slope. One our motivations derive useful representations daily or seasonal changes that would help easily identify elevations determine melt-out days in an area interest. In work, well-known approach the literature is used estimate extent cover continuously season analysis influence complex mountain topography on proposed altitude, slope, aspect terrain. product compared Sentinel-2 products for cloud free scenes. We show while there are good agreements between two satellite products, differences exist, especially areas forests glaciers where underestimated. This underestimation must be considered alongside geometric distortion were excluded study. analysed retrievals at scale examining Altitude–Orientation diagrams different classes slopes also Altitude–Time orientations. have shown type representation very get overview it allows lines For orientation interest, can track evolution locate altitudes dates loss. ascending/descending image series complementary French alpine highlight altitude ranges days. Monitoring of Wet Snow and Accumulations at High Alpine Glaciers Using Radar Technologies
Conventional studies to assess the annual mass balance for glaciers rely on single point observations in combination with model and interpolation approaches. Just recently, airborne and spaceborne data is used to support such mass balance determinations. Here, we present an approach to map temporal changes of the snow cover in glaciated regions of Tyrol, Austria, using SAR-based satellite data....
متن کاملMonitoring Snow Cover in Alpine Regions through the Integration of Meris and Aatsr Envisat Satellite Observations
The ENVISAT mission with a suite of high performance sensors offers some opportunities for mapping snow cover at regional and catchment scale. The geometric resolution of MERIS data and the spectral resolution of AATSR data are suitable for these purposes. A new approach, developed in the framework of the GLASNOWMAP project (ESA-DUP2) for monitoring snow cover in Alpine regions, based on the co...
متن کاملMonitoring of SO2 column concentration over Iran using satellite-based observations during 2005-2016
For the first time, sulfur dioxide concentration was monitored between 2005 and 2016 over Iran which is among the countries with a high SO2 emission rate in the world. To that end, SO2 column concentration at Planetary Boundary Layer (PBL) from Ozone Monitoring Instrument (OMI) was analyzed. OMI is a sensor onboard the Aura satellite which can measure daily SO2 concentration on the global scale...

متن کاملDeformation monitoring using Sentinel-1 SAR data
This paper describes the data processing and analysis procedure implemented by the authors to analyse Sentinel-1 data. The procedure is an advanced Differential Interferometric SAR (DInSAR) technique that generates deformation maps and time series of deformation from multiple SAR images acquired over the same site. The second part of the paper illustrates the results of the procedure. The first...
